It’s no secret that Bungie has put an awful lot of eggs in Destiny’s Taken King DLC. Just how many eggs they are putting in that basket probably wasn’t known until the company talked about its plans at Gamescom. Bungie’s lead concept artist, Jesse van Dijk sat down with Game Reactor and talked about how the company looks at The Taken King as the proper evolution of the Destiny. The developer says that the team has worked hard to bring the new content to a massive variety of players.

“The original goal for Destiny was to have an activity for every mood, and that sort of philosophy is still very much alive today, and still very much applies to all of the content in The Taken King.” van Dijk said. The lead concept artist also talked about Bungie learned quite a bit about what fans expected from the game by the way there were plenty of people unhappy about the “finished product.” This is one of the reasons the game will bring so much new content in Taken King.

The illustration of how Bungie is trying to bring a game that will make all players happy comes in the form of Dreadnought, the new area that players will be battling through in the expansion. “In many ways it represents our evolved vision of what a destination should be. It should be immediately appealing, but there should be consistently, secrets that reveal themselves, and treasures that you might run into.” van Dijk added. Whether or not the game does evolve correctly will be seen when Taken King launches on September 15.
