Gears of War Ultimate Edition

The Coalition’s Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has had its fair share of complaints since the multiplayer launched but none more prominent than the utter randomness that can be the Gnasher shotgun. At times, players felt like it was barely registering. Shots that seemed like they would kill didn’t so much as dent an opponent.

Fortunately, the developer has released a new update to fix this. Along with improvements to the general consistency of the Gnasher, it now seems that pellets from the gun will always shoot in a consistent pattern. An “idle state” issue in multiplayer was removed as well in order to further decrease the randomness of shooting trajectory. A bug wherein some Gnasher shots would be reported as headshots has also been fixed.

In the patch notes, the dev team noted that, “We wanted to improve the Gnasher by focusing on producing a consistent shot, so players can better predict and estimate the damage they are doing to opponents.

“We’ve done this by changing the Gnasher from a randomized pellet spread to the same shape spread. This will help reduce occurrences where you do less or more damage than expected, and also help players calculate their damage expectations during gunfights more accurately and consistently.”

What are your thoughts on these changes? Give the Gnasher a whirl today and let us know what you think below.
