Scalebound

Yesterday, we found out a couple of reasons why Scalebound is an Xbox One exclusive. Today we found out that the relationship between Platinum Games, the developer of the game and Microsoft is indeed quite the little love affair. While Platinum agreed to the exclusivity in large part because its team has always been a fan of the Microsoft consoles, the Xbox One team believes this deal could greatly help the console boost sales in places like Japan.

The console has faced an uphill battle when it comes to even getting close to the PS4 in Japan but the Xbox Marketing manager recently told Dualshockers at the Tokyo Fanfest that he believes this is the game that could turn things around. Masashi Inoue was asked flat out whether Scalebound could be a gamechanger when it comes to console says and he answered “oh yes, oh yes.” He went on to explain the company is well known in Japan and has a good following.

“I think not only it’s an exclusive for Xbox, but PlatinumGames is well known, and has big fans in Japan and also overseas. So, having seen those great demos, I firmly believe that that it’s going to deliver a lot of excitement to our customers, and we’re looking forward to the release.” Inoue said. Whether or not the game really does change the landscape for the Xbox One is really something we’re not going to be able to see until the game actually hits stores. Scalebound is due to release sometime in 2016.
