SOMA Sells 92,000 Copies on PC and PS4

Frictional's latest records strong sales within the first 9 days of release.

Frictional Games’ SOMA has only been out for nine days and has already sold 92,000 copies on PS4 and PC according to a new accolade trailer released by the developer. It released on September 22nd and has been available for PC, Linux, Mac and PS4.

While that number may not seem very high, it’s important to consider that Frictional is a relatively small developer. Amnesia: The Dark Descent also sold 30,000 units within its first month of release so it’s likely that SOMA’s sales are even higher when the full month concludes.

SOMA is a first person horror title much along the lines of Amnesia and takes place in an underwater facility called PATHOS-II. Things are clearly wrong under the sea as you avoid murderous robots, deal with issues of identity and self, and try to decipher a way to survive in what’s essentially a husk of a world.

What are your thoughts on SOMA following its release? Let us know in the comments.
