The Pokemon Company is pursuing a legal case against the organizers of an unofficial PAX Pokemon themed party– they will be seeking $4,000 in damages from the fan who organized and advertised it. The Pokeon Company threatened legal action against the organizer, Ramar Larkin Jones, after he had advertised it during PAX- but Jones responded by quickly taking down all advertisements and canceling the event.

It appears as though that was not enough, as The Pokemon Company is insisting that he still pay the $4,000 fine. With Jones not having the money to pay that fine himself, he has turned to the Pokemon fan community, and, via his GoFundMe campaign has raised the necessary cash.

“Hi, I’m Larkin Jones and I’m being sued by Pokémon,” his fundraising page reads. “I’m a video gamer, huge Pokémon fan and over all a huge geek.

“The day before the PAX party, Pokémon sued me. Without even a cease and desist. Totally didn’t expect that. Pokémon wants $4000 that I just don’t have. I told them I would pay it over a year and they denied that. They want it now with in the next 45 days. I work in a cafe and I literally don’t have $4000.”

I mean, I love Pokemon, but this is very poor form from the Pokemon Company. They could have let the incident go, or they could have at least worked with Jones on the payment of his outstanding fine at the very least.
