Halo 5: Guardians will, much like just about every other non Nintendo game on the market, launch with a day one patch, and that patch will weigh in at a hefty 9GB. These final 9GB will push Halo 5: Guardians well over 50GB on day one itself- so make sure you have the right amount of space cleared on your hard drive for it.
The day one patch will include multiplayer functionality, as well as map content. Basically, you can play without it, so long as you only plan on going through the campaign solo; then again, you’re playing Halo, so you’re almost certainly eager to jump into the multiplayer, making this patch mandatory.
So… yeah. That’s that. I mean, it’s not a biggie, most games these days do this, but… man. Most Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U games aren’t even 9GB, and here we have day one patches that weigh in as much. It’s a bit insane.
Halo 5: Guardians launches October 27 only on Xbox One.
