Halo 5: Guardians has been doing very well for Microsoft with global first week launch sales and hardware sales totaling $400 million. What’s even more interesting is to note the success of the REQ Packs, especially since they can be purchased with real world money (marking the introduction of microtransactions to the Halo-verse).

As it turns out, sales haven’t been too shabby at all. As of October 27th, REQ bundles have generated more than $500,000 in sales. As promised by 343 Industries, this has been added to the Halo World Championship prize pool which now totals $1.5 million. It’s important to point out that the actual microtransaction sales could be higher since only a portion is being added to the HWC prize pool. What percentage of total sales goes to Microsoft hasn’t been disclosed yet.

What are your thoughts on Halo 5: Guardians’ microtransactions and for that matter on the REQ Packs themselves? Let us know in the comments below.
