Microsoft has announced that the REQ system in Halo 5: Guardians has generated more than $700,00 in revenue thanks to microtransactions, bringing the Halo World Championship prize pool to $1.7 million. Revenue was initially revealed to be $500,000 in early November.
To top it off, Microsoft also revealed that the Halo World Championship would be beginning on December 6th with 16 teams competing worldwide and the finals to be held in March 2016. To top it off, there will be some limited time Legendary REQ packs offered to players in the form of Athlon Armour and Weapon Skins (for the Assault Rifle and Magnum) along with an emblem.
It remains to be seen just how much of the REQ pack revenue is actually going towards the Halo World Championship prize pool but regardless, Microsoft and competing players are benefiting greatly. What are your thoughts on the REQ System in Halo 5: Guardians? Let us know in the comments.
