Bungie Changes Patch 2.1.0 Notes for Destiny Yet Again

Oh Bungo.

Destiny The Taken King_Crucible 02

When patch 2.1.0 first released for Bungie’s Destiny, there was wide-spread confusion over the changes made to auto rifles and pulse rifles. This was because the former were supposed to receive buffs in damage but they seemed virtually unchanged. On the other hand, the latter were seemingly nerfed in damage much more than initially reported. Senior Designer Jon Weisnewski then updated fans that the numbers were missing decimal points and that even though the patch notes had this major typo for several weeks, the patch was working as intended.

Hilariously, in the Weekly Update, Weisnewski came out again to clarify his mistakes and to change the patch notes yet again. It’s not even a case of decimal points either – damage values are significantly different from before.

Weisnewski said, “Let me come right out the gate by saying that, all self-depreciating humor aside, any frustration caused by my incorrect messaging of the change values was unintended from my end and perfectly understandable from your end.

“Transparency and open dialogue around our design intent for this game means a lot to us. On a personal note, the effort that goes into crafting a preview that invites you into our discussions is a point of pride for me. Yesterday’s mistakes were not my finest moment.”

And what about the changes to Fusion Rifles to make them hilariously less stable than before when hip-firing? That’s a dialogue for another time it seems. What are your thoughts on this third set of patch notes? Let us know in the comments.
