Valve has long been trying to set the trend when it comes to PC gaming and the company announced its next step in that endeavor with The Lab. This will apparently be a place where the company will be making and allowing a number of VR “experiments.” The Lab was announced in a very short email from Valve where the company said it would bring more information next week at GDC.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to guess as what lengths the company is going to go with this. While the details in the email were indeed scant, the firm did say that The Lab offers multiple ways to enjoy room-scale VR. Valve also said that it will be offered for free this spring. That still leaves the question as to just what this particular offering is going to be. Obviously we can get some hint with the fact that it’s talking about a full room VR experience.

This is hardly the first time Valve has shown a keen interest in VR tech. The company had a focus on VR at CES this January and now it appears that is going to the focus on it once again when GDC kicks off later this month. GDC runs through March 14 to 18.
