Destiny: Bungie Finally Doing The Right Thing, Recruitment Forum Will Be Enhanced

Bungie listening to feedback? What madness is this?

The big problem with Destiny? For a game that actually pitches itself as a social experience, it lacks any form of multiplayer whatsoever for any of its various modes and activities. Which works great if you have some friends who also play Destiny, but if you don’t, then you either can’t do any of the stuff on offer, or you get a significantly more difficult, less enhanced experience.

The absence of in game matchmaking has led to a plethora of ‘LFG’ forums and communities spring up- message boards and the like where players can recruit, or request to join, fireteams and clans, including on Bungie’s own forums. However, this has led to a fractured, chaotic experience that has been ‘kind of a mess,’ by Bungie’s own admission.

That will change now, though. No, Bungie is still not offering in game matchmaking- but what they will do instead will be to update the Destiny companion app. This update will enhance the functionality of the Recruitment forum, and allow players looking for fireteams, or vice versa,  to get an at-a-glance look at invitations as well as their activity, availability and platform. The list can be filtered by those options as well. And if you can’t find anything that suits you, you will also be able to use the app to start your own thread on the forum.

“Every user of these features will have a profile linked to an active Guardian in good standing,” said Bungie. They announced that these features will be made available for the general recruitment forum, as well as the personal clans one, meaning one way or the other, it should be easier for players of Destiny to connect to one another.

Destiny is available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
