Sony continues its momentum with the PS4 and has big plans for the console. In its latest financial forecast for the fiscal year ending on March 31st 2017, the company plans to sell 20 million units by April 2017. If you factor in the 40 million units sold as of March 2016, that would bring the console’s total sales worldwide to 60 million.

The company noted that, “Sales are expected to increase year-on-year due to an increase in PlayStation 4 (“PS4”) software sales, including sales through the network, and an increase in PS4 hardware unit sales.

“Operating income is expected to significantly increase year-on-year due to the impact of the increase in PS4 software and hardware sales, partially offset by the impact of a decrease in PlayStation 3 software sales. The impact of the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes is expected to be immaterial.”

Said impact temporarily closed one of the company’s semiconductor production plants and delayed its financial forecast. Overall, Sony expects 1,680 billion Yen in sales and 135 billion Yen in operating income for the coming fiscal year.
