Bungie won’t be repeating the debacle of Year One weaponry being rendered obsolete for Year Two of Destiny. According to Bungie game director Christopher Barrett who spoke to Mashable about the upcoming expansion Rise of Iron, items at the current Light level can be infused to the new Light level.

“So Infusion is staying around. The stuff that you have now that you like and love, you’ll be able to bring up to the new power level, the new Light level.”

Infusion was modified significantly with the April Update, allowing players to bestow the maximum possible Light to their item of choosing. Earlier, you had to infuse multiple higher Light level items into a single weapon or piece of Gear to bring it up to the max Light level.

So instead of infusing several guns into your Hung Jury to bring it to Light level 320, you now only need to infuse one 320 Light level gun to achieve the same result. Barrett confirmed that this 1:1 infusion wouldn’t be changing.

This will be good news for players who have high tier rolls on some weapons and want to continue using them when Rise of Iron releases on September 20th for PS4 and Xbox One.
