Pokemon GO is one of the rare mobile games that people are actually looking forward to seeing launch officially in their regions. The worldwide rollout of the game has been slow- owing to limited server capacity, and the game actually launching in a beta state, Niantic have taken their time with pushing the game into different countries and markets around the world.

As of right now, most major markets already have Pokemon GO– but one very important one that does not is Japan, where Niantic have admittedly confirmed the game will be launching before the end of this month. However, that launch may in fact be coming far sooner than anyone expected. TechCrunch are reporting that Pokemon GO is due to launch in Japan tomorrow, on July 20, on iOS and Android devices, with 3,000 McDonalds restaurants acting as sponsored PokeStops.

Niantic themselves are not commenting on the report, though given Niantic’s famous reticence in spite of the breakout hit status of Pokemon GO, as well as their tendency to simply drop the game in a new market without any warning, that sounds about right.

You can check out our review for Pokemon GO here. Alternatively, if you need some help getting a handle over the game, you should check out our extensive guide for the game. There are also some things the game does not tell players that you should be aware of, as well as some things that rub players off the wrong way– if you are starting out with the game, knowing those beforehand will probably help make the experience better.
