Pokemon fever is gripping the world again, which apparently is reason enough for everyone to jump on the bandwagon once more. To wit: apparently, Hollywood has already commissioned a Pokemon movie. Legendary Pictures, the studio behind Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight movies, as well as the Warcraft movie that came out recently, will apparently be starting shooting on a new Pokemon movie next year, with a release presumably planned for the following year/

The picture will be based on Detective Pikachu, the eShop only Pokemon spin off that currently only has a release date in Japan- but so far, Dany DeVito, who remains a lot of fans’ primary choice to voice the role of Pikachu, remains an elusive dream as far as involvement in the movie goes.

This movie will be separate from the 19 Pokemon movies that have already been released, which are animated features following the adventures of Ash, Pikachu, and their traveling companions, and which follow the story of the anime- so even newcomers to the franchise should theoretically be able to jump into the new movie and enjoy it (assuming it’s any good, that is).
