While news of a third Red Dead game remains elusive, it seems as though those who want to play the seminal 2010 classic that shot the IP to fame may at least be in luck- according to Korean video game website Gamefocus.co.kr (via NeoGAF), a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption may be in the works, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
This remastered version would be the only way to play Red Dead Redemption on PS4 natively- the game was released on PS3, but the PS4 isn’t backwards compatible with the PS3. It would also be the first time the game has been made available on PC, since the original game never launched on the platform. Xbox One owners can actually play Red Dead Redemption via the backwards compatibility feature, but I don’t think they’d say no to a remaster, either.
Especially if the remaster in question is as great as Grand Theft Auto 5‘s PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions were, which were so good, they thoroughly rendered the PS3 and Xbox 360 original obsolete. Hopefully, then, this rumor turns out to be true- especially if this remaster would be paving the way for a potential Red Dead 3, too.
