Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda made its long awaited appearance at this month’s PlayStation Meeting and while it looked great, there have been criticisms here and there. Interestingly, one particular area of criticism has been the animation especially considering the work that’s gone into it.

Industry insider shinobi602 (who predicted such events as Horizon: Zero Dawn being delayed into 2017) said on NeoGAF that, “It’s ironic that many are mocking the animations in the game when it’s all entirely from the ground up. All new animations.

“They’re using a brand new locomotion system in the game similar to the things Ubisoft is trying to push with For Honor. It’s the body locomotion with locked feet and natural gesturing system. You can see it in the way Ryder walks and transitions into different speeds and turns. Animations look much better than any previous BioWare game.”

He also posted a brand new image for the game showcasing the atmospherics and environmental textures in better detail. Check it out below.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is currently scheduled to release in Q1 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will also support 4K upscaling on the PS4 Pro.
