Crafting a big open world for players to explore is all well and good- but literally every other game on the market now does that. What’s more impressive is having that world be seamless and immersive. This is usually achieved by giving the idea of a seamless and continuous world, unbroken by, say, loading screens. It’s one of the reasons that Fallout 4‘s world is not as convincing as The Witcher 3‘s- loading screens frequently interrupt progress in the former, but not the latter.
And it looks like developers Square Enix have been paying attention to all this, because it sounds like Final Fantasy 15 won’t have any loading times while exploring the world, either. Kotaku have confirmed that Final Fantasy 15 loads its entire world upfront, so you’re not going to run into any loading screens when you are actually exploring.
However expect loading screens while switching chapters or loading a save. Final Fantasy 15 is due out on November 29 worldwide, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The ten year long wait to play this game is finally about to come to an end.
