Death Stranding’s Mads Mikkelsen: “Kojima Is A Master, He’s The Kasparov of Video Games”

The actor is also still a bit confused when it comes to what the game is about

While we’ve known for a while that Hideo Kojima’s latest, Death Stranding was going to have much ballyhooed actor Norman Reedus (of The Walking Dead fame), it wasn’t until later we found out that another famous actor is going to be part of the project. Mads Mikkelsen, best known for his work as Hannibal Lector and in the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One movie is also going to play a part in the new game.

Recently, the actor talked to IGN about his experiences working with Kojima and it’s a safe bet that Mikkelson has never had quite the experience he’s had on Death Stranding. Among the high praise comments Mikkelson made, was comparing Kojima to long time chess grand master Gary Kasparov, who was known as being both a genius and a little odd.

“Kojima is a master. He’s the Kasparov of video games. He’s such a visionary person. [Working on a video game] was just something I’d never crossed before, so it was a wonderful opportunity to dive into that world.” Later on he added that there were times he was a bit confused by what Kojima told him about the game and his character.

“I mean, you know. He’s a very brilliant man. I mean … the stuff he told me? I only understood some of it,” Mikkelsen said. “There was a lot of (mimes being baffled) ‘What?’ I have to see it before I understand. Because with Death Stranding, he’s creating something completely new.” Considering there has been talk that the game is going to look even better than what we’ve seen so far, Death Stranding could be a really exciting project when all is said and done.
