Resident Evil 7 Will Run In 1080p and 60FPS On Xbox One and PS4; Producer Discusses PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio

Plus, the game will also support HDR.

Generally speaking, this generation is the generation of multiplatform games performing poorer on Xbox than they do on PlayStation 4- something that is unlikely to be reversed until at least the Xbox One Scorpio launches. Which is why Xbox fans will probably appreciate that with the upcoming Resident Evil 7, there will apparently be visual parity between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

In an interview with GamingBolt, Masachika Kawata, the producer of Resident Evil 7, confirmed that the game will run at 60fps and 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One, both. He also confirmed that the game will support HDR on Xbox One S, PS4, and PS4 Pro.

Kawata-san also shared his thoughts on the new iterative consoles, noting that as with any new bit of hardware in the industry, the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One Scorpio need to see acceptance and enthusiasm from multiple bases if they are to be successful.

“When it comes to new hardware, I think that the biggest takeaway is just making sure that it’s not just one party that is excited about this product,” he said. “It really has to be a mutual interest on both the manufactures side, publisher side, [and] consumer side. And only when everyone is on board and everyone’s excited for the product does it allow the opportunity to expand the game industry and the user base. Because otherwise it’s just a lot of extra effort on our side.”

He is right- supporting hardware that doesn’t see support from either customers (such as the Wii U) or the manufacturer (such as the Vita) makes no sense for a publisher, and is just extra work and money with little to no tangible chances of a return- thankfully, so far, it seems like there is general all around enthusiasm for the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Scorpio, so both of them should manage to fare well.
