Overwatch Dev Lobbies For Disallowing Keyboard and Mouse on Consoles

Director Jeff Kaplan discusses the matter.

Overwatch has seen its share of balance issues, cheating problems and bugs but for the most part, everyone on their respective platform is on a level playing field when it comes to the tools they can use.

But what happens when those tools are above and beyond what others have? What happens when support is more easily available for those who can shell out cash for converters? Does that constitute cheating? A recent thread on Blizzard’s official forums posed this question, noting that high-ranked Xbox One and PS4 players use XMI for mouse and keyboard play on consoles.

Director Jeff Kaplan in turn stated that, “We have contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices.

“We have lobbied and will continue to lobby for first-party console manufacturers to either disallow mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices or openly and easily support mouse and keyboard for all players.

“I encourage you to reach out to the hardware manufacturers and express your concerns (but please do so in a productive and respectful way).”
