NPD Sales Results For March: Zelda Beats Horizon And Mass Effect, Ghost Recon Tops Charts

A major month for US game sales.

Posted By | On 20th, Apr. 2017

The sales charts for US for the month of March are now out, and we know, at last, how all the major releases did. The big news? As with everywhere else in the world, Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands topped charts in the US too, beating out every other major game in a month full of them. This means, then, that Wildlands sold more than 925,000 copies in the US in March- since we know that’s how much Breath of the Wild sold, and it’s sold more than Breath of the Wild.

Breath of the Wild itself is in second place on the charts, beating out Mass Effect Andromeda and Horizon: Zero Dawn, both, which follow it in that order. It is important to remember that digital sales are not counted for Zelda or Horizon, while they are for the other games on this chart, too- maybe the order would have been different if that had not been the case.

In other news, NieR Automata charted in the Top 10, at #9. You can check out the full charts for yourself below. I wonder what April’s charts will look like…

  1. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Record: Wildlands (Ubisoft) – Best selling Ghost Recon ever, #2 Tom Clancy title debut behind The Division.
  2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)
  3. Mass Effect: Andromeda (Electronic Arts) – Second best Mass Effect debut ever, after Mass Effect 3 (which sold 1.3 million in its first month).

  5. MLB 17: The Show (Sony)
  6. Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two)
  7. For Honor (Ubisoft)
