Capcom Enters Cross-Licensing Agreement With Bandai Namco to Improve Matchmaking

Street Fighter mentioned as one such title.

In order to improve online matchmaking in its games, Capcom has announced a cross-licensing agreement with Bandai Namco, which recently launched Tekken 7 to strong praise. It noted that Street Fighter would be one of the games to leverage this agreement.

The company stated that, “Capcom aims to effectively utilise the patents it has been granted in game series such as Street Fighter in order to deliver even more exciting content to game players.”

Along with providing a better user experience while matchmaking, this step will also help Capcom release new content faster since it doesn’t have to devote more attention to networking.

Since Street Fighter 5 – which wasn’t specifically mentioned – has suffered from matchmaking issues and connection issues till this very day, this could be a very positive step for Capcom. Of course, it remains to be seen how this will be utilized for the company’s other upcoming titles like Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.
