The Elder Scrolls 6: Can Bethesda Make The Music Even Better Than Skyrim?

Can Bethesda improve what is already perfect?

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that a game’s audio and its soundtrack are perhaps two of the most important things that contribute to its experience. A game’s music isn’t as obviously important as its visuals or its game mechanics are, but music can really make or break an experience. Franchises like Persona, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Halo and God of War have all been known to feature some excellent soundtracks.

Another such franchise that has consistently had great music over the years is The Elder Scrolls, and Skyrim has perhaps some of the best music the series has ever had. It would be fair to say that the music is extremely important in any Elder Scrolls game, so we’re hoping that with The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda will continue to do the great work they have done with the music in all their games. From Morrowind and Oblivion to Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda games have always had some great music, so hopefully The Elder Scrolls 6 follows suite.

And there’s no reason to believe that it won’t. Composer Jeremy Soule has been working on the series since Morrowind, and has also worked on some other excellent titles like Knights of the Old Republic, Prey, Icewind Dale and Baldur’s Gate. His track record speaks for himself, and if all goes as we expect it to, he will be back to compose the soundtrack of The Elder Scrolls 6. If indeed that ends up happening, there’s no doubt in our minds that the game’s music will be top notch- to say the least.

What’s your take on this? Do you think the music in video games – and The Elder Scrolls specifically – is as important as we do. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

This article is part of our series on Bethesda’s next big entry into the world of The Elder Scrolls.
