Destiny 2 Cancelled Pre-Orders That Received Beta Codes Charged by Best Buy

Consumers charged after beta codes are fulfilled as per retailer.

If you pre-ordered Bungie’s Destiny 2 from Best Buy, claimed the early access beta code that followed and were then charged after cancelling the pre-order, that’s pretty much normal. At least, according to Best Buy.

Some users have asked Best Buy about this on Twitter but a more detailed response was provided in an older forum post from several months ago. Apparently this isn’t a new thing for the US retailer as it stated that, “Because you cancelled your order after your digital Beta code had already been fulfilled, which can’t be returned or deactivated, the system automatically charged you its value in accordance with our policies.

“I do apologize for any disappointment this may cause, but because we cannot return or deactivate the digital code you were already provided we’ll not be able to provide you with a refund for its value. “

Though this practice may be disadvantageous to those who were dissatisfied with the Destiny 2 beta and wanted to cancel their pre-order, it does make sense in the long run. If an individual were to pre-order multiple copies of the game for the early access beta codes and then distribute them, perhaps even re-sell them, before cancelling pre-orders, it could be a major problem for the retailer.

Destiny 2’s PS4 and Xbox One beta will be going open for all players at 10 AM PST, July 21st. The PC beta goes live in late August with the full game out for consoles on September 6th and for PC on October 24th.
