11 bit Studios has been working hard since the release of This War of Mine, it’s emotional survival title inspired by the Siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, and teased us with Frostpunk. The steampunk-esque post-apocalyptic title seemed like another journey of survival but the first gameplay trailer has confirmed that it’s actually a city builder. Check it out below.
Frostpunk tasks you as the leader of this forlorn city as you manage resources and make tough decisions. Given how This War of Mine panned out, it seems you’ll have prioritize the survival of everyone over an individual at certain turns.
Some decisions you make may not be the most empathetic but they will be necessary. Of course, players will also have to explore outside the boundaries of the city to see what lies beyond. Whichever route you go, sacrifices will apparently have to be made.
Frostpunk currently doesn’t have a release date and will be coming to PC via Steam. Xbox One and PS4 releases could also be a given so stay tuned in the coming months for more information.
