Sony has made some very minor changes and upgrades to the PS4, resulting in a ‘new’ model for it on the market- we are now up to CUH-7100, up from CUH-7000. Notably, this is not a major revision or refresh. Do not expect new features or changes made to the hardware. Essentially, this is presumably some changes made to the hardware used under the hood (presumably because cheaper components are now available), which prompts no customer facing change, but does prompt a minor change to internal numbering.
The first PS4 Pro system to be a part of this fresh batch will be the Monster Hunter PS4 Pro. In fact, that is why the update was discovered in the first place.
So, if you own a PS4 Pro already- no, your model is not obsolete. If you don’t, and were hoping for a refresh bringing it closer in terms of capability to the Xbox One X- no, this does not do that either. This is literally an internal component swap (if that), with no changes for any users or customers whatsoever.
Thanks, 4Gamer.
