Monolith Soft and Nintendo unveiled a ton of new information yesterday about Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the massive open world RPG that will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in a few weeks. The latest Nintendo Direct presentation broke down the various Blades that players could collect, some of the story and characters and much more.

Some of the new details include how the Cloud Sea, part of Alrest’s environment, influences which areas of the Titans are accessible. It’s possible to change the time of day in-game, thus letting certain creates come out and the Cloud Sea to shift. We also got a look at the various combos that players could use, from the Driver Combo that chains various Art combos together, to Blade Combos which chain Specials together and stop enemy movements.

It’s even possible to execute Fusion Combos where a Blade Combo begins while a Driver Combo is being used. If you fill up the party gauge, it’s possible to initiate a Chain Attack with all party members. Each Weapon Class will have four different Weapon Arts but you’ll have to select three to use in battle.

Another interesting aspect concerning Blade customization is how Tora’s artificial Blade Poppi can only be upgraded by playing a minigame called “Tiger Tiger”. Apparently Poppi will have a certain role to play in some instances so it’s worth your while to upgrade her.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is out on December 1st, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
