Xbox One X

The Xbox One X has been out in the wild for a good month now and the reception has been fairly positive. Results are varying for games with specialized patches but as a whole, consumers seem satisfied with the console’s power. One area where the Xbox One X seems to be succeeding in is offering a decent alternative to consumers who want a high end gaming PC.

GamingBolt spoke to Gaijin Entertainment CEO Anton Yudintsev, whose company brought out free to play dogfighting sim War Thunder, and he especially brought up this point when comparing the Xbox One X to a high end modern gaming PC.

“It [Xbox One X] is definitely better than most of gaming PCs on a market in terms of raw GPU power and developers access to it. Of course, very powerful high-end PCs exist, however, there are pretty rare even for hardcore gamers (and very expensive).”

In the long run, Yudintsev also sees consoles in general being beneficial for developers since its x86 architecture helps reduce the gap between it and the PC. Does this allow them to match up to PC in terms of power thanks to this?

“Using x86 architecture is very helpful to reduce the gap between platforms and so more developers can work more efficiently on both platforms. In terms of “raw” performance of any of platform it may be helped manufacturers, but I am not very familiar with that part of industry,” said Yudintsev.

Time will tell just how much of an impact the Xbox One has but for now, it’s offering an experience that its competitors can’t. The Xbox One X currently retails for $499. Stay tuned for our full interview soon.
