Monster Hunter World PC Delay Explained By Producer

Their reasons are well meaning.

Monster Hunter will finally be available on consoles and PC, thanks to the upcoming Monster Hunter World, bringing the game to more expanded audiences; but while the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are out by the end of this month, the PC version will be releasing some time in Fall, an absurd delay for a major multiplatform game in this day and age.

It rankles especially since Monster Hunter World is the kind of game that could do so well on PC- by delaying the PC version’s release, it feels like it chances are being sabotaged. However, speaking to GamesRadar, the game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has explained the reasons for why PC players have to wait.

“For the main Monster Hunter game, this is our first PC title and it’s something we want to make sure we get right,” Tsujimoto-san said. “So rather than have it taking up resources during the console development and not it not being able to have our full attention on it. We want to get console out the door and then we’re going to take some extra time and try and get the PC version as good as possible.

“There’s extra work you need for PC as well. On console you use first party matchmaking, you just kind of plug into it, whether it’s PSN or Xbox Live, but on PC we’re going to have to work more to get our own matchmaking working. So, hopefully, PC users won’t mind waiting a little bit longer for us to bring you a really great optimized PC experience.”

While the wait is still a bummer, I do understand the desire to push out the best possible experience, and take full advantage of what a platform has to offer- so while this is less than ideal, at least the reasons are noble. I just hope Capcom does deliver a great PC experience for the game after all of this, is all.
