Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege

Last week, Ubisoft announced that it would dropping the Standard Edition of Rainbow Six: Siege and instead offering a new Advanced Edition to players. This resulted in a price increase for the same package from $40 to $60. Furthermore, with the upcoming Outbreak event, the developer sought to implement loot boxes or Outbreak packs into the game for unlocking cosmetics.

Following complaints with fans about the new pricing structure, the company quickly reversed the potential price hike. The Standard Edition will remain in the market for $40 and will also offer information on how players can acquire Operators in the Starter Edition when the Six Invitational rolls around.

“Following [Thursday’s] announcement, we have seen the frustration from our current players rise to the top of the discussion. For our newcomers and those of you concerned about introducing your friends to the game, we will be keeping the Standard Edition in the store at the current price,” the publisher said on Reddit.

If that weren’t enough, players who  partake in online matches till March 6th will receive the Ash Sidewinder Elite skin for free. It will become available to players when the first season of Year 3 begins.

It’s worth noting that the Gold and Complete Edition of Rainbow Six: Siege retain their price increases. The former will cost $90 while the latter will cost $130 though they each include 10 Outbreak packs and the Season Pass for Year 3 DLC (available separately for $30). These price changes will go into effect on February 13th.
