FIFA 18 Tournament Shifted to Xbox One from PS4 Due to PSN Outage Issues

Not a good look for Sony and PSN.

Posted By | On 30th, Jan. 2018

PSN has been down a lot over the last week or so; and while PlayStation players have been complaining about the issues a bit, now, it seems, the issue has hit Sony where it hurts- their sponsorships. Last year, Sony secured a marketing and branding deal for FIFA, taking it away from Xbox. Included as part of this deal, all official FIFA events would be played on PlayStation systems.

Except, that’s not what happened with the FUT Champions Cup, which took place in Barcelona over the weekend- owing to the continued outages that PSN was suffering, the matches had to be moved from the PS4 over to the Xbox One.

This is an embarrassing look for Sony, and for PSN, and it is exacerbated given that Sony is actually charging more for PSN now than they were last year, what with their price raises. They seriously need to invest in their network infrastructure.
