Rare Responds To Sea of Thieves Is “Light’ On Content Concerns

Aye, but when will Rare deliver more booty to plunder?

Rare’s Sea of Thieves is finally available for Xbox One and Windows 10 gamers the world over to experience the pirate’s life, but many are finding the initial offering to be somewhat anemic. Of course, this isn’t the first game to start small and potentially grow exponentially over time, but some players are still concerned that it’s too small to keep players around for a long time.

Executive Producer Joe Neate would attempt to soothe these worries when IGN asked for comment, promising that the game was designed from the start to grow and evolve with new content, which will continue to roll out at a steady pace. Rare simply wanted to nail that first impression and will continue to use player feedback to grow the title.

Sea of Thieves is designed from the ground up to be a game that grows and evolves, and we will release new cosmetic options ongoing as part of that, alongside new mechanics and ways to play. Our focus for launch is on delivering a great initial experience, and as we move beyond launch we will be assessing and reacting to player feedback across all areas of the game. We have worked with our community throughout the development of Sea of Thieves, and that will continue in exactly the same manner beyond launch,” stated.

Sea of Thieves kicked off Microsoft’s new initiative to launch their first party games on Xbox Games Pass on day 1, which allows many more players to enjoy the game.
