It’s clear that as game directors go, Cory Barlog is a bit of a genius. He has previously delivered God of War 2, which is widely regarded as the best game in the beloved series, and his next game, the upcoming God of War, looks like it might end up as one of the greatest games ever created.
Apparently, he also has a hell of a work ethic, because he explained his work process for game development in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, admitting that there is so much for him to tackle that he ends up being behind schedule every day.
“Yeah. It’s a really complicated time. You know, because I am at my most exhausted right now, but also like weirdly energized, you know, like energized because it’s done,” he said.” Sad because it’s done, right? There’s that description that I think pretty much every President talks about. That they’re surrounded by people and Secret Service and everything’s chaotic and crazy, and then the day that the last week of Service people drive off and they’re just Joe Citizen is that weird like silence that you experience. And my job isn’t like the President’s job, but there is that sense of it being chaotic. There are a thousand decisions to make every 10 minutes and it is just constant go, go, go, go all the time. I’m behind schedule every single day and there will be a point in the next three weeks probably where everything stops.”
It sounds like Barlog has worked tirelessly on getting every aspect and part of the new God of War game—hopefully, his labor’s bear fruit, and the new game ends up being as incredible as it seems it is shaping up to be. God of War launches on the PS4 exclusively come April 20.
