Death Stranding

Looks like production for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming Death Stranding is moving along nicely. As per a set of new tweets, motion capture work for the game’s cutscenes is in full swing, and as anyone who’s played any games by Kojima would tell you, that is incredibly exciting news. Barring the likes of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, cutscenes are Kojima’s forte, after all.

Kojima’s personal assistant recently tweeted an image of Mads Mikkelsen on set standing next to Hideo Kojima, with motion capture seemingly in full swing, and the game director giving pointers. Ayako, the assistant, accompanies the image with the remark “so many breathtaking lines”, which seems typical of a Kojima game.

Meanwhile, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who’s been tapped up to direct the Metal Gear Solid feature film and has formed a close friendship with Hideo Kojima, also visited the set, and he’s clearly thoroughly impressed with what he’s seen. He tweeted an image of himself lying on the sets, since, according to him, he’s witnessed the production of cutscenes that will “melt your eyeballs”.

You can view both these tweets below. Death Stranding is currently without a release date, but we expect it to launch sometime in 2019 for the PS4 and later on the PC. We’ll know more at this year’s E3. Stay tuned for more updates.
