While Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be missing Nintendo’s hybrid console when it launches in October this year, it sounds like Nintendo fans will still be getting a Call of Duty experience anyway. According to GamingIntel, Call of Duty: Battle Royale will be coming to the Switch this year.
Battle Royale is supposed to be a standalone battle royale based on the series, developed by Raven Software, and bundled alongside Black Ops 4 on other platforms. It seems like, according to this rumor, in spite of Black Ops 4 itself giving the Switch a miss, Activision is still bringing Battle Royale to the console instead.
It’s actually a smart decision—the Switch shockingly lacks a battle royale game so far (Fortnite has been discussed, but not publicly announced yet), and this would be a great way to tap into that. Plus, it also brings the Call of Duty brand to the platform with what might be its most popular mode this year, too.
Of course, for now, all of this, including the very existence of the battle royale mode, is a rumor, so don’t go getting too excited just yet. We’ll have to wait for something official to know either way.
