Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice may not have been the biggest game to release last year but it was definitely one of the most impactful. The long-delayed action adventure title recently received accolades from the British Academy Games Awards and has done fairly well in terms of sales. The Xbox One version has also recently released, pulling in even more supporters.

However, the overall sales for the game based on platform have been split. PC Gamer spoke to chief creative director Tameem Antoniades at Rezzed, who said that while the developer expected Hellblade to do well on console, it ended up being “pretty evenly split” with the PC version.

“We did see this as primarily a PlayStation 4 title, and we thought that platform would be the bulk of our sales, and in fact it was pretty evenly split. So going forward, we will make sure that we get our interface and everything right for the PC audience as well,” said Antoniades.

Antoniades especially feels that with regards to the number of people who played with mouse and keyboard. He brings this up while also regretting the lacklustre support for the control scheme at launch.

“We were so surprised that so many people played the game with mouse and keyboard, and we dropped the ball a little bit at the start. We patched it afterwards, but we dropped the ball with our mouse and keyboard support.”
