Sea of Thieves Private Crews, Pirate Trading Removed After Issues

Rare will revert two of the latest features while further investigating.

Rare finally released its much-anticipated update for Sea of Thieves, one that added several essential features like private lobbies/crews, player trading and so on. However, due to server issues that immediately cropped up, these features were removed just as quickly as they were patched in.

It started just two hours after patch 1.07 went live. Servers faced issues due to player resource trading and subsequently went offline. The feature was removed according to a tweet from Rare. However, soon after a number of “AllmondBeard” errors began to crop up en masse.

Rare again had emergency maintenance for servers and removed the open/closed crews feature. Oddly enough, gamer tags being invisible while underwater was also a feature that was removed. Stability is still wonky and Rare noted in a recent tweet that it was working to fully resolve all issues.

Over on Reddit, Rare did state that, “Following today’s patch we are unhappy at the quantity of players being disconnected by AllmondBeard errors. While the root cause is not fully understood, we are going to revert the two new features (Open/Closed Crew, Underwater Gamertags) while we investigate further.

“I know a second maintenance window is frustrating after this afternoon’s outage but we need to improve the situation for all affected here. Appreciate your patience as we work through this.” When these features will arrive remains to be seen so stay tuned for more updates.
