As it stands right now, details on CD Projekt RED’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 are hard to come by, which is why we’ve had to rely on things such as job listings and leaks to tide us over until the developers reveal some official details themselves. And unsurprisingly, that’s what we’re doing here as well- the Polish developers have put up a new job listing on their website, which gives us some interesting details on the game’s combat.

CDPR are looking for a Combat Encounter Designer, who will be, in a nutshell, responsible for “delivering memorable combat encounters, that thrill and excite our players”. Some of the requirements sound like pretty general stuff- such as designing “memorable combat encounters based on predefined narrative, environmental and gameplay themes”, or ensuring “level geometry serves the needs of the combat encounter”, but there’s two requirements that seem to stand out.

Firstly, the job listing mentions that the job applicant will be responsible for scripting “combat AI and flow, memorable moments/set pieces and companion AI”, which means that companion characters are definitely going to be a thing in the game. Additionally, one more point mentions that the applicant will be scripting “both stealth and action based encounters”- which is definitely interesting. A game that places emphasis on both stealth and action scenarios sounds intriguing, and given how we’ve heard in the past that Cyberpunk 2077 is taking cues from games such as Deus Ex, that doesn’t sound surprising at all.

Cyberpunk 2077 was announced quite a long while ago, but we expect CD Projekt RED to finally go into proper marketing for the game starting with the upcoming E3, where the game is expected to have a huge presence. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
