State of Decay 2 is now available for the PC and Xbox One. So if you’re looking for a zombie survival game, then this might be the game for you. With that said, PC users have reported experiencing some minor issues with the game. Luckily, these can be solved with some simple tweaks and solutions which can be found below.

GENERAL FIXES
Generally speaking, some basic troubleshooting tips should always help you resolve whatever issue you are facing with the PC version of any game. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.
- Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated
- If you have two GPUs, make sure you are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one
- Set State of Decay 2’s priority to High in the Task Manager Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, video recorders, and overlays
- Try lowering visual settings on the game to see if that improves game performance
- Make sure you have Windows updated before you attempt to play State of Decay 2.
BLACK SCREEN ERROR
If you experience an issue in the game where the screen goes black, then it can be resolved quite easily. The problem is most likely caused because the game’s resolution is set higher than your monitor’s native resolution. To fix the issue, press ALT+ENTER to bring the game to windowed mode, and then change the resolution so that it fits your monitor’s native resolution.
GAME CRASHES OR DOES NOT START
If you find that the game does not launch for you or that it crashes right after launching, then you can fix the issue by following these steps. First, press the Win Key+R to open ‘Run’. Once you have done this, copy and paste this: %localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.Dayton_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StateOfDecay2.
You will now be able too see the error log and if it states “Failed to choose a D3D11 Adapter”, then you can fix the problem by installing the latest Windows updates and DirectX version.
CODE 6 ERROR
If you are getting an error known as Code 6 when you try to play the game, then you can solve the issue quite easily. All you have to do is go to your Windows Firewall properties and ensure that outbound is allowed while inbound is not allowed. Once you do this, the problem will be solved and you will be able to run the game without any issues.
Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of State of Decay 2.
