Beat Saber

Selling consumers on VR content is tough, especially considering the high entry point for hardware. Hyperbolic Magnetism is making some strong headway with Beat Saber though, combining real-time beam saber slashing with rhythmic gameplay. It’s pretty trippy but also very fun and VR players are reacting accordingly.

According to the developer on Twitter, Beat Saber sold 100,000 units in less than one month. These are sales from both the Oculus Store and Steam Store. After thanking the community for its support, the developer said that its next goal was to finish the upcoming Level Editor and add “fresh new music content.”

Hyperbolic Magnetism is an indie studio with two developers and based in the Czech Republic. The pair have been releasing numerous titles over the years, many small in scope but with unique ideas and gameplay (head here to check out their previous release Chameleon Run). Beat Saber is arguably their biggest breakout though and it will be interesting to see how it evolves in the near future.
