Nintendo Switch Tops Charts in Japan Again In Latest Media Create Report

Etrian Odyssey X tops software charts, giving the 3DS a healthy bump along the way as well.

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for the newest Media Create charts, that record video game hardware and software sales in Japan over the last week. To what I imagine will be to literally no one’s surprise, the Switch managed to top charts again, selling 50,799 units- as always, more than every other system on the market put together. PS4 was second place, with 19,002 units (a bad showing, but actually an increase from last week), while the 3DS saw a surge and ended up in third place with 12,586 units.

Some of the 3DS’s popularity doubtless has to do with Etrian Odyssey X‘s release on the platform last week. The newest game in Atlus’ dungeon crawling series, and the final one planned for the 3DS, topped software charts, with almost 72,000 units sold. Namco’s Pro Baseball on Switch was second place, with WarioWare Gold taking a strong third place finish. Elsewhere, Nintendo evergreen games continued to leg it out on the charts as well.

With the release schedule beginning to fill out in the coming weeks, it will be fascinating to see how well (or not) all platforms and games end up doing in Japan over the next few months.
