Battlefield 5’s launch is almost upon us, less than two months away now, and as the day of release approaches, DICE have been giving out more information on the upcoming shooter. David Sirland, who’s the multiplayer producer on the game, recently took to Twitter to answer a bunch of fan questions, and a lot of interesting details came out of his responses.

The most interesting bit of information has to do with vehicles. While vehicles have always been a major part of any Battlefield game, they look to be even more of a focus this time around. When asked about the coolest thing in Battlefield 5 that fans may not know about, Sirland brought up “game changing changes to land vehicles”, which he described as having “massive depth”.

The upcoming beta, in fact, is going to showcase some of the aforementioned “massive” changes, according to Sirland. “Massive improvements” for tanks, as well as “anti-tank” gameplay, are going to be part of the open beta. Additionally, something else DICE are also currently working on is bullet penetration, which Sirland admits is not fully realized yet. That is something that may face issues in the beta as well, and DICE will be looking into feedback they receive from it to improve that particular aspect of the game for the final build.

As for how the beta will run exactly, Sirland says it runs pretty much how a beta is supposed to run- it’s playable and in a test-worthy state, but it won’t be perfect, and that is another area where DICE will be looking at data and feedback to implement improvements, which is pretty much standard fare.

Additionally, Sirland was also asked about things such as crash landings and being able to drag downed teammates out of gunfire, and whether or not such things might be included in the game down the line. Sirland said that those are things DICE are looking into and might even end up in the game post-launch, which is something they’ll be giving out more info on “soon”.

Recently, new details emerged about the changes to medics and the minimap in Battlefield 5, while weapon customization info also seems to suggest a greater range of options than what was available in Battlefield 1. Battlefield 5 launches on October 19 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while its open beta kicks off on September 4.
