Halo 5: Guardians Will Remain Xbox One Exclusive, In Spite of Recent Rumors

You’re not going to be hunting the truth on PC any time soon.

Recently, people noted that reprints of Halo 5: Guardians had switched from labelling the game as “Xbox One Exclusive” to “Xbox One Console Exclusive”, prompting speculation that one of the last Xbox exclusive holdouts will probably be coming to PC some time soon (Halo 5 launched before Xbox Play Anywhere was a thing). A form of Halo 5 has been available on Windows 10 PCs for a while, in the guise of Halo 5: Forge– but full-fledged Halo 5 on PCs would be neat, surely.

However, that speculation was just that, speculation. Speaking to CNET, Microsoft confirmed that there is no intention of launching Halo 5 on PC any time soon. “As we’ve shared previously, we do not have plans to launch Halo 5: Guardians on Windows 10 PC,” a Microsoft spokesperson told CNET Monday.

Halo appears to be the one franchise Microsoft is strangely cagey with bringing over to PC- The Master Chief Collection is still not on Windows 10, for example, and there has been a lot of uncertainty about whether or not the upcoming Halo Infinite will hit Windows 10 alongside Xbox One.

For now, it seems as though you need an Xbox One if you like Halo.
