On Friday, we reported the story of a Smash fan with terminal cancer, who, worried at the prospect of not being able to play the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, posted his fear about that on social media, following which Nintendo showed up at his place with a copy of the game, and let him play it early. Here’s another story like it.

Wes is a 12 year old who has been battling with a form of cancer named neuroblastoma since he was 5. Treatment for his condition was suspended earlier this month by doctors, out of fear that it could exacerbate his condition more than anything else— something which led Wes, who has pre-ordered the Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76, to express his fear that he won’t be able to play the game.

Bethesda decided to be super awesome about this— Bethesda Assistant Director Matt Grandstaff showed up at his place with a copy of the game to let him play early, as well as a T-51 Power Armor Helmet that was signed by Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard.

He wasn’t allowed to keep the game, though he did get to keep the helmet, but at least he got to play it early. It’s a bittersweet story, because a 12 year old should not be dealing with this, no one should. If you want to help him in his fight against cancer, his family has set up a GoFundMe page that you can donate to.
