Suikoden Series Website Has Been Relaunched

A new release? A remaster? A re-release? I’ll take anything.

Once, not so long ago, Konami was one of the most beloved publishers in the market, the standard bearers of quality games, and the makers of many renowned franchises. From Contra and Bomberman, to Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill. But arguably their most intently beloved series, at least among a certain sect of fans, was Suikoden.

Suikoden was a series of Japanese RPGs, known for its great art and its rich writing and world building, which many hold has not been topped to this day. The series, much like most of the rest of Konami’s catalog, is now dormant. However, the unexpected revivals of Bomberman and Castlevania were already reasons to suppose that Konami could feasibly look at bringing the IP back— and now, we have something more tangible to work with on that front, too.

See, the series’ official website has been relaunched, with nary an official word or statement. This is the first change made to the website in over four years (the last update was when the first two games in the series were made available for PSP owners in Japan as part of a PS Plus trial). Why this update? Is a new release in sight? Maybe just a remaster? Maybe just a re-release? Maybe because Suikoden will be among the games on the PlayStation Classic?

Honestly, at this point, I am sure that Suikoden fans will take anything. Anything that implies a sign of life.
