Fortnite On Xbox One No Longer Allowing XIM Keyboard and Mouse Support

Third party keyboard and mouse options that give players unfair advantages have been "blocked".

Fortnite Battle Royale

If you’ve been using XIM’s input adapters to play Fortnite on Xbox One with keyboard and mouse controls, there’s bad news for you- although it’s probably for the best. If you’ve been using XIM’s input adapters, Fortnite on the Xbox One will be displaying “blocked” messages.

Why’s that for the best, then? Well, because XIM’s input adapters treat keyboard and mouse options as standard controllers for your consoles, which means that playing with a keyboard and mouse on the Xbox One (or any other console, actually) using these adapters means that you still get to play with aim assist. Aim assist is something shooters on consoles wouldn’t really work without, since controllers provide far less accuracy than a mouse.

Pair a mouse and aim assist with each other, though, and you get a distinct and very unfair advantage over other players. With the number of players playing with and against each other in Fortnite having now gone up significantly due to cross-play having been enabled, that becomes an even more unfair advantage. XIM, on their part, have confirmed on Twitter that they’re “investigating” the issue, and will have more information to share soon.

In other Fortnite news, the challenges for Week 3 of Season 6 were recently revealed, and they’re pretty lively. Read more on that through here.
