When Ubisoft raised the level cap in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey from 50 to 70 with last week’s patch, they made it so that all the experience level 50 players had accrued prior to the patch would convert to Ability Points, and thus would not increase their level. Following some questions from the community about this, they have put up a post on Reddit making some clarifications, and briefly talking about upcoming updates.

For starters, they talked about the XP to Ability Points transfer- if you’re wondering what to do with all the Ability Points you have now, and might not have much to spend those on, Ubisoft says there’s a feature coming soon that will solve that problem. “For those of you who don’t know what to do with all these ability points, we’ve got a little surprise,” they wrote. “We’re working on a new feature that will make ability points a lot more valuable.”

They also talked about why they made the decision to award the same amount of Ability Points to all max level players rather than varying that number based on how much XP they had gathered at level 50. “There wasn’t a clean way to convert XP to Ability points,” Ubisoft wrote, “so we decided to grant every player who reached level 50 prior to patch 1.0.7 the maximum amount of ability points. We believe this is the best possible outcome for all of our max level players.”

Ubisoft also acknowledged two issues with the engravings on items beyond level 50, one of them seemingly decreasing perk values when upgrading beyond that level, and the other due to which damage from poison arrows and fire arrows is being calculated incorrectly. While the second issue is one that’s being worked on and will be fixed in the next patch, Ubisoft says the first one is only a display issue, and that stats are working as intended.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
