Fallout 76 Twitch Viewership Is Lower Than Fallout 4’s Was At Launch

The Wasteland is well and truly empty.

There are some things that get really popular on Twitch. Multiplayer games in general take off on the site really well, mostly because of the unpredictability of each new match. Meanwhile, open world games do really well on Twitch too, because of how dynamic gameplay within them can be.

You would expect, then, Fallout 76, which is multiplayer and open world, to do well there, right? Especially since previous Bethesda games have done so well on the platform too. However, according to GitHyp, a site that collates and collects data from Twitch, Fallout 76 is doing worse than Fallout 4 right now. On launch day, Fallout 76 had a maximum of 106,000 viewers, which is down 56% from the 243,000 peak viewers that Fallout 4 had on launch day.

In fact, it’s only the 51st most viewed game on Twitch all year. This doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad for Fallout, since in the long run, it could end up generating more interest from viewers, but… for now, it sounds like Bethesda’s most streamer friendly game yet – conceptually, at least – didn’t find a whole lot of friends among streamers.

Fallout 76 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Make sure to read our review of the game.
