Fallout 76’s Power Armour Edition Has Also Been Subject To Criticism From Fans, Bethesda Responds

It seems like everything to do with Fallout 76 has been at the centre of some controversy or the other.

Fallout 76 launched with a bevy of issues earlier this month, and players have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the game, but it seems like the game itself isn’t the only thing that has been subject to criticism. The $200 Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 has also come under fire from those who purchased it recently.

Among the contents of the edition that had been advertised in the build up to the game’s launch had been a duffel bag, which Bethesda had stated would be made from canvas material- in the Power Armor Editions that were shipped to consumers, though, the duffel bag included was made of nylon instead.

A user on Reddit posted a thread about a complaint he made to Bethesda regarding this, and the response they received from the Bethesda Helpdesk initially was surprisingly blunt. “We are sorry that you aren’t happy with the bag,” they said. “The bag shown in the media was a prototype and was too expensive to make. We aren’t planning on doing anything about it.”

As you can imagine, that response didn’t go down too well with the community, and Bethesda were promptly called out with allegations of false advertisement and a lack of communication with prospective consumers. The publisher soon issued a second response on Reddit, saying that the person who issued the preceding response was a contract employee and was not directly employed by Bethesda, also adding that the switch to nylon production for the duffel bag was due to “unavailability of materials”.

“The Bethesda Store’s Support member is a temporary contract employee and not directly employed by Bethesda or Bethesda Game Studios,” they wrote. “The support response was incorrect and not in accordance with our conduct policy. Unfortunately, due to unavailability of materials, we had to switch to a nylon carrying case in the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition. We hope this doesn’t prevent anyone from enjoying what we feel is one of our best collector’s editions.”

Since then, Bethesda have also apologized on Twitter, saying that they will be granting 500 Atoms in-game to purchasers who have an issue with the quality of the duffel bag.

Bethesda recently also spoke up about the state of Fallout 76 the game itself, apologizing for its silence over the matter over the last few weeks and promising incoming improvements. Read more on that through here.
